Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends soul gospel jazz and R&B to create a unique mix. From Broadway to European festival and clubs, the singer has done work all over the world. Sunshine's given title is Denise White. While she is a resident of Atlanta but she is from Chester Pennsylvania where she began music by performing as well as playing the piano at church. Following her graduation from Spellman College, Atlanta she began her musical journey on Atlanta's R&B musical scene. She took on the role of primary piano player for Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to be the director of the choral group for this theatrical production. Sunshine gained national recognition through her performances on four consecutive days in 2008 at the Democratic National Convention. She was then invited to perform during President Obama's 2009 inauguration.
